Boxing Promoters have given us some of the most memorable nights in sporting history. Imagine what the world would be like without the "Rumble in the Jungle" or "Thrilla in Manila" events. Fight promoters are entertainment kings and know just how to put on a show for the world to see whilst making money and helping a fighters career.

There have been lots of bad things said about promoters in the past, stories of how they rig fights or short change their fighters and although it may be true in some cases, where would the fight world be without them? They are a thick skinned bunch who know how to deal with conflict and difficult situations as they arise. They are organizers, negotiators and business men rolled into one.

The amount of stress these men experience is unbelievable as there is a great deal of variables that determine the success of an event. They have to deal with things like fighters making weight, getting licenses, paying sanctioning fees to governing bodies, paying staff, determining the most profitable venue for the fight being sold, costs and profits, looking after VIP's, involvement of the media for promotional purposes, ring card girls, advertising, television networks, singers for the national anthems, the weigh in and countless other events. You see, the list just goes on and on and although it isn't just one person who organizes it all, it takes that one person with enough knowledge to lead the promotional team to success.

The few men who have achieved success in this field surely live a life that many are envious of. making a tonne of money, sitting ringside at major fights, hanging with celebrities and being in charge of some of the worlds deadliest fighters is enough to lure anybody to do it. Famous Promoters:

Tex Rickard: George Lewis "Tex" Rickard was arguably the greatest fight promoter of all time. Rickard was born in the state of Missouri before moving to Texas at a young age. At just 9 years old, Tex finished up with his schooling career in search of money making alternatives.

Bob Arum: Boxing promoter Bob Arum became one of prize fightings biggest and best promoters after a successful career as an attorney for the United States Justice Department.

Don King: Don King is arguably the fight games most recognizable promoter world wide. Known for controversy, his flamboyant speech and his unconventional hairstyle, King has been an import part of prize fighting history and has surely made his mark on the sport by being inducted into the Boxing Hall of Fame in 1997.

Gary Shaw: Gary Shaw is the CEO of his own Promotional company, which he created in 2002 and is now currently recognized as one of the top prize fighting promotional companies in the world.

Oscar De La Hoya: Boxing legend Oscar De La Hoya's Golden Boy Promotions proves he's not only a great fighter but a very smart businessman too.

Dan Goossen: Goossen Tutor Promotions was formed in 2002 by well known American boxing promoter Dan Goossen and construction giant Ronald Tutor.
